Description

Position Title: Planning Assistant in Community Planning (Summer Internship)

Location: RM of Edenwold Municipal Office, 100 Hutchence Road, Emerald Park, Saskatchewan
Term: June 3, 2019 to August 31, 2019
The RM of Edenwold is a municipality located just east of the City of Regina.  It is home to 4,500 residents and over 150 businesses.  Emerald Park and the Great Plains Industrial Park form part of the RM of Edenwold along with over 20 other residential and commercial subdivisions.The RM of Edenwold is home to a wide range of land uses associated with both rural and urban environments.  The diversity in the municipality presents unique and interesting challenges for planners.  
Job Summary:
The summer student will support various planning initiatives in the RM of Edenwold and will work with the municipalitys planning team.  Some of this work may include, but not limited to research, data analysis, report writing, updating municipal maps and databases and communicating information regarding proposals and development plans with community members.
Qualifications:
Completed at least the 2nd year of a university program with a focus on community planning or geography with preference given to candidates who are nearing the completion of their degree
Excellent communication (written and verbal), customer service and interpersonal skills
Strong analysis and report-writing skills
Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel) and skills with Adobe suite is an asset
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid Saskatchewan drivers license
Keen interest in planning issues as they relate to both rural and urban environments.
