Job Description: The MDS Coordinator - reports to the Director Clinical Integration Continuing Care.  The MDS Coordinator  is responsible for coordinating the management of the automated assessment/classification system (MDS/RUGS) with long-term care.  This includes the development, implementation, delivering of education, timely analysis, ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the system.  The MDS Coordinator provides clinical leadership by acting as a resource, facilitator, coordinator and advocate for the MDS/RUGS system.  The MDS Coordinator provides an effective program and continuous quality improvement and management practice to ensure efficient utilization of the MDS/RUGS system.  This position participates in the provincial advisory committee of MDS/RUGS.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor Degree/Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing
Registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA) or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS)
Experience
A minimum of five (5) years current experience in long-term care.
General comprehension of assessment, classification, and care planning systems.
Experience in staff development and training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Advanced communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
Advanced leadership skills
Other Information

Note:  This position is open to all SUN members within the bargaining unit as per Article 27.05 of the SUN Collective Bargaining Agreement, however first preference will be given to employees of Sunrise Health Region.
