Cook
General Description:
The cook will plan, organize, and deliver a supper program at SIMFC ensuring that food is healthy, safe, affordable and appropriate. The successful candidate will deliver two meals per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The target audience being served will be individuals experiencing homelessness and/or extreme poverty.
Duties and Responsibilities:
    To ensure the successful supper program.
    Menu planning to meet nutrition requirements of participants
    Ordering and receiving food and supplies
    Preparing meals using food safe practices
    Maintaining a clean and organized work area
    Relate well to participants sharing information on healthy eating as appropriate and possible
    Keep records and write reports
    Ensuring all kitchen dishes/pots/utensils are cleaned and maintained.
    Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
    Training and/or experience in nutrition and food services
    Experience working with youth, adults and aboriginal individuals and families
    Familiar with ordering food and supplies, record keeping and budget management
    Must have Food Safe Certification
    Indigenous candidates preferred, please self identify (First Nations, Metis, Inuit)
Working Conditions:
    Work hours will be 1:30-6:30 p.m., working with adults at the SIMFC, ability to work cooperatively with SIMFC staff, participants, ability to work with little supervision
    This job requires a police record check, drivers license preferable, Food Safe certificate
    Part Time-10 hours per week
