Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is Canada's national synchrotron research facility located on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This facility produces high-intensity synchrotron light, millions of times brighter than sunlight, to explore the nature and structure of molecules and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions. The CLS facilitates scientific research aimed at finding Canadian solutions for global challenges in agriculture, health, advanced materials, and the environment.
The CLS is now recruiting a highly motivated scientist at the Support Scientist level to work at the CLS and will use synchrotron techniques to find scientific solutions to agriculture challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Environmental and Earth Sciences manager at the CLS, the support scientist will be responsible for the execution and completion of projects.
- Specific duties may include establishing experimental protocols, sample preparation, data collection, instrument maintenance, and reports preparation.
- The incumbent may also be involved in discussing experimental details with relevant scientific teams and training new clients.
Requirements:
- All applicants are expected to have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in engineering, agriculture or in natural sciences.
- Applicants with equivalent technical college degree and experience in a scientific laboratory setting will be given equal consideration.
- Strong backgrounds in analytical chemistry or biochemistry will be considered an asset for the position.
- The applicant should have a clear aptitude for scientific research and a desire to participate in an active and exciting science program.
- Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is a requirement of the position.
