Main duties
1.Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new or existing installations
2.Pull wire through conduits and through holes in walls and floors.
3.Install brackets and hangers to support electrical equipment.
4.Install, replace and repair lighting fixtures and electrical control and distribution equipment, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
5.Splice, join and connect the wire to fixtures and components to form circuits.
6.Test continuity of circuits using test equipment to ensure compatibility and safety of the system, following installation, replacement or repair.
7.Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems and remove and replace faulty components.
8.Connect electrical power to audio and visual communication equipment, signaling devices and heating and cooling systems.
9.Participation in Company Social Media activities.
10.Conduct preventive maintenance programs and keep maintenance records.
Employment requirements
1.Completion of secondary school is required.
2.Completion of a three-to five-year apprenticeship program is required.
3.Trade certification for construction electricians is required.
4.Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) is required.
