The Heavy Duty Mechanic repair, overhauls, maintains & services diesel powered automobiles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, excavators & pickup trucks, etc.. Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed and demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
Candidate must have:
Ability to read and write daily records including maintenance reports & documentation
Stress & time management skills
Able to weld, gas & AC/DC
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years mechanical experience
Willingness to work in different camps if required
WHMIS, PPE
Mine experience an asset
First Aid & CPR
Valid Drivers License with clean drivers abstract (class 1 licence preferred)
Operate 2-way radio
Computer skills to diagnose and look up parts (Cat ET & SIS)
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
- First Aid Certificate
- CPR Certificate
- WHMIS Certificate
- Driver's License (Class 1 or A)
- Driver's License (Class 2 or B or C)
Additional Skills
- Keep maintenance reports and documentation
- Instruct apprentices
- Order parts and maintain inventory
