Employees in this position coordinate and deliver energetic teen programming services (Grade 9-12) at the city of Estevan Public Library Branch under the supervision of their branch manager and with the assistance of other branch library staff. They also assist in the delivery of public library services from a city public library branch. Further, they provide reference services, operate the circulation desk and support overall library services. They report to their branch manager or designate. They assist with, recommend and implement current information technology strategies in all aspects of their work. They use the full range of social media, equipment, hardware and software available in the branch as well as effectively search the librarys electronic information sources. They interact with the public, make independent judgments and display initiative. They are expected to refer unusual or difficult problems to their supervisor or designate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Post-secondary education and/or relevant experience coordinating energetic programming for teens; ability to design, promote and deliver creative and effective teen programs; active reader of teen and young adult materials; keyboarding speed of 30 wpm; superior interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills; superior oral and written communication skills; ability to learn through independent initiative; ability to operate office and computer equipment; competent in the use and operation of multiple information technology devices; ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others; ability to display judgment and tact in working with staff and the public; possession of a valid driver license and the ability and willingness to drive as required; physical fitness allowing the lifting and moving of boxes of library materials (up to 20kg); willingness to work varied hours (i.e. evenings and weekends) as required. Library experience an asset.
