Description

David Aplin Group, has partnered with our client to recruit a General Manager in the construction industry. Located in Saskatoon, this is a full-time permanent opportunity with a local family-run organization that prioritizes timeliness, safety, and quality. We are seeking an effective leader who is self-motivated, goal oriented, and experienced in a construction setting.

The Role:  SEE OUR SITE FOR FULL REQUIREMENTS
Monitor upcoming tenders; Review tenders and contracts; Manage/oversee the bidding/bonding process:
Calculating quantities
Getting quotes from vendors and subcontractors
Site visits
Completing Bid forms
Requesting bonds
Prepare project budgets and project schedules
Work with job engineers to ensure updates are reported in a timely manner as per contracts, to ensure payment is received for the correct progress
Completion of job follow-up documentation prior to collection of final payment
Maintain an organized account of equipment and its location(s)
Meeting with customers to ensure quality control and assurance; Ensure all customer deadlines are met
Implement and maintain a shop inventory and purchasing system
Supervise project team and shop team:
Hiring/firing, performance evaluations, managing daily tasks
Creating job descriptions
Approving timesheets, vacation schedules, etc.

The Ideal Candidate:
5+ years of experience in construction management
PMP would be considered an asset, as would Procurement or Estimating experience, and COR internal auditor training
Strong communication skills with a priority on developing effective information-sharing practices both internally and with external partners
Effective problem solver with a forward-thinking mindset. Able to identify areas for concern before issues arise
Solid organization and planning skills
Computer savvy with technical writing and relevant software skills
Valid drivers license with clean abstract
Able to foster a positive work environment
