Roles and responsibilities of the Communications and Education Outreach Coordinator include:
- Social media research and content gathering - generate a bank of STEM-related messages to be used on various platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) related to careers, geoscience, minerals
- Website updating - work with Communications Manager on updating Members Only area
- Education Outreach - coordinate development of potash kits; assist in preparation for and participation in GeoVenture Program for Educators
- Assist in planning, coordination and delivery of 2nd Annual Indigenous Youth First Responder Boot Camp
- Assist in development of Indigenization of Mining Career Cards
- This position is partly funded by the Canada Summer Jobs 2019 Program. To be eligible, students must:
o Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment
o Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year.
- Students must have at least 1 year of post-secondary study, with preference to Indigenous and/or female students in the STEM-related (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) or Education field of studies.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs (word, excel, outlook)
- Social media skills - experience with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram
- Experience in developing social media content
- Able to work independently, with demonstrated research experience
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan mineral resources
- Organizational skills and familiarity with program management
- General knowledge of office procedures
