Description

David Aplin Group, one of Canada's Best Managed Companies has partnered with our client to assist them in recruiting a Tax Attorney based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Our client serves a niche market with customized financial products designed to be leveraged to meet the planning needs of owners of privately-held mid- to large-sized Canadian businesses. The ideal candidate will understand Canadian corporate taxation law and be part of a team that works to develop customized financial strategies utilizing insurance products and knowledge of Canadian tax and investment strategies. The position requires knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The Role:
Work with high functioning finance and legal team to develop strategies around a wide range of matters including wealth management, tax planning, asset protection, and succession planning
Perform due diligence reviews on contracts and preparation of related rectification documents
Assisting with the preparation of legal opinions with respect to the tax consequences of specific strategies, as well as litigation risk
Provide legal advice and assistance to the consultants
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts
Reporting to in-house General Counsel, and working with in-house teams to maintain, develop and share legal knowledge to encourage the success of others

The Ideal Candidate:
3-6 years of tax litigation or tax planning experience
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information
An independent thinker, analytical, self-confident and humble
An outstanding communicator
High level of integrity, and takes pride in own work
Works well in an ever-changing environment and has the ability to prioritize workload
An individual with solid technology skills
