Job Purpose: School-based itinerant Social Workers provide social and emotional support to children and families to ensure a healthy and positive school experience. Through short term counselling; support assessment, linkage to outside community agencies and crisis intervention and in collaboration with parents/guardians, school personnel and community resources, Social Workers develop behavioral strategies and interventions that maximize opportunities and success in school.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Current knowledge of best practices in childhood and adolescent social/emotional development and impacting factors, such as abuse, disorders and family disruption
Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with a wide range of client groups and understanding of how to deliver culturally responsive services to a diverse group of clients
Knowledge of community agency and resource mandates including the Child and Family Services Act and the Saskatchewan Child Abuse Protocol 2017
Knowledge and adherence to professional standards and ethics specific to the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers
Superior case management tracking, documentation, writing and reporting skills
Qualifications: Bachelor or Masters Degree in Social Work
Registered and in good standing with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers
Minimum two years of experience
Working Conditions: As per CUPE Agreement
8 hour work days, 40 hours a week, 10 months per year (as per school calendar)
Home base for the position is Robert Southey School in Southey and the successful candidate may service Cupar, Kelliher and James Hamblin (Qu'Appelle) Schools. To commence August 26, 2019 and ending June 30, 2020
Salary Range: $37.27 $45.34
Daily travel among division schools is required
