Description

o Plan and organize operational logistics of the organization, establish work schedules and procedures, resolve work-related issues, prepare and submit progress and other reports.
o Co-ordinate activities with other supply-chain work units.
o Train workers in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
o Ensure smooth operation of computer systems, equipment and machinery and arrange for maintenance and repair work.
o Co-ordinate, assign and review the work of clerks.
o Dispatch personnel according to written schedules and work orders, or as required by emergency situations.
o Co-ordinate, assign and review the work of clerks. o Process and transmit information and instructions to co-ordinate the activities of vehicle operators, crews and equipment using a variety of computer-aided communications and dispatching equipment.
o Advise vehicle operators of route and traffic problems such as construction, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, weight and size restrictions and other information.
o Monitor personnel workloads and locations.
o Knowledge of highway trucking and associated rules and regulations.
o Knowledge of cross border dispatching regulations and practices.
o Schedule assignments and co-ordinate activities of vehicle operators, crews and equipment.
o Maintain vehicle operator work records using computerized or manual methods and ensure time sheets and payroll summaries are completed accurately.
o Follow-up on issues with work orders.
o Keep track of shipments.
o Act as liaison between customers and drivers.
o Maintain computer and manual records of mileage, fuel use, repairs and other expenses, and generate reports.
