Description

As the first point of contact for BIRC & the community.  To ensure newcomers are warmly welcomed & provided with the community opportunities they need to successfully settle in the Battlefords region. This position acts in accordance with the mandate, objectives, policies & procedures of the Battlefords Immigration Resource Centre.

Responsibilities:
Respond to phone, e-mail & in-person inquiries from newcomers & also from a wide range of stakeholders & the public
Identifying potential needs at all levels & creating community events & connections to meet these needs
Act as a BIRC liaison between stakeholders & the Newcomers & BIRC
Manage regional activities & events in team work with BIRC staff & the community
Maintain confidentiality of client information & adhere to BIRC client policies
Assist clients with using BIRC computer terminals
Ensure resource material is current, accurate & appropriately placed where newcomers can easily access it
including connecting with other service providers to exchange information & acquire necessary materials for the Resource Centre
Connect Newcomers with mentors in their communities
Produce appropriate reports & statistical records to support the BIRC work plan & ensure Settlement Manager has necessary information to satisfy reporting requirements
Assist BIRC staff to ensure that the premises are secure & well-maintained

Skills
Valid driver's licence
Must be bilingual
Strong customer service focus
Organized & detail oriented
Able to thrive in a team environment
Excellent intercultural communication skills
High level of computer literacy (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook)
Proficiency using office equipment
Knowledge of various culture groups
Fluency in additional languages an asset
