Description

The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is the national synchrotron research facility on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon. This facility produces high-intensity synchrotron light for cutting edge scientific researches and serves Canadian and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.

CLSI is now accepting applications for an Associate Scientist position in the Science Division to work on SyLMAND lithography beamline and facility at CLS.

Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Beamline Responsible, the successful applicant will assist in the operation and maintenance of the beamline and the support processes associated with X-ray Lithography.
- Preparation of samples for UV and X-ray exposure, design checking, and exposing of samples using a UV laser writer and XRL beamline, post-exposure development, etching, and metal deposition.
- Providing user support is a key component of this position as is maintenance and support of clean room operations and equipment.
- It is expected that this position will involve or collaborate with other beamlines in developing various MEMS devices.

Qualifications:
- All applicants are expected to have successfully completed a B.Sc. degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related scientific discipline.
- Experience in operating a synchrotron beamline is not a requirement, but experience in lithography and the processes related to photoresist patterning, inspection for defects and device testing would be required.
- The applicant should have a clear aptitude for science and instrumentation and a desire to participate in an active and exciting science program.
- Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is a requirement of the position.
