Great Plains College is looking for dynamic and enthusiastic instructor for the ESL program at the Swift Current Campus. The instructor will plan, organize and implement an instructional program of English for settlement, academic or work purposes for learners whose first language is not English. The position will also be responsible for the informal evaluation of learners including on-going progress assessment and short and long-term instructional planning (lesson and unit planning).

Total Contract: 101.25 days
Start Date: September 3, 2019
End Date: May 28, 2020
Classes: Daytime hours Monday to Thursday
15 to 20 hours per week of classroom time
Duties include:
Knowledge of Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) approach in order to implement in the classroom
Plan and implement English Language instruction using Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) curriculum guidelines in a classroom setting, within a multi-level group-instruction setting.
Plan and prepare to instruct each day and present course material in a clear and comprehensible manner
Creating a learning environment that is philosophically adult-education based where learning is considered collaborative and learner-centred.
Qualifications:
Ideally, The Instructor should bring the following qualifications to this position:
-Completion of CERTESL certificate or equivalent
-Two or more years of recent-on-the-job experience in the skills or technical subject area.
-Experience working with Stage 1 learners, including those who may have low literacy skills in their first language
-Knowledge of Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) approach.
