Reporting to the Truck Shop Foreman, the Truck & Trailer Mechanic is responsible for maintaining & repairing semi-trucks and trailers as required.
Job Duties:
-Repair & adjust hydraulic pumps, safety valves, & any other necessary mechanical components
-Inspect, repair & adjust gasoline & diesel powered units
-Adhere to safety policies, regulations & compliances
-Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner
-Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, & work cooperatively/jointly to provide quality service
-Diagnose & repair defects in trucks and trailers
-Operate automotive servicing & diagnostic equipment, e.g. A/C recycler, etc.
-Installation of new & added-on equipment
-Electrical & hydraulic troubleshooting & diagnostics
-Repair cooling & lubrication systems
-Install & align engines & machinery
-Repair mechanical transmissions & differentials
-Repair cable-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
-Test repaired equipment for proper performance
-Perform maintenance work
-Keep detailed & accurate maintenance reports & documentation
-Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology & repair techniques
-Miscellaneous duties as required
Requirements:
-Some completed education towards becoming a journeyman truck and trailer mechanic
-1-2 years experience in a truck and trailer mechanic shop
-Valid drivers license with the ability to get to & from work (Class 3A or 1A is an asset)
-High attention to detail
-Values rooted in health & safety
-Ability to work in a high paced environment with high physical demand
-Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently & in a team environment
-Drive to learn and develop skills
-Scheduling flexibility as overtime may be required
-Steel-toe safety boots required
