Summary
At Hopes Home early learning and childcare centre, the DW/PDC cares for children with complex medical needs including diverse physical and mental needs, providing individual PT programming to meet the growth and development of each child. Temp position until December 2019, hours are 9:00-5:30 pm, M-F. ECE 1 certification required.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with outside professionals in performing physical therapies, implementing programming, and maintaining/communicating accurate records/data on each child
- Oversee/evaluate/report adapted equipment needs (walker, standing frame, etc.) in daily therapy programming, noting any problems/concerns
- Attend childrens appointments at designated rehabilitation centers (as necessary, where applicable)
- Assist support colleagues in using developmental assessments and anecdotal records and other documentation for development
- Develop/participate in Enhanced Accessibility grant meetings
- Work with childrens support teams (parents, nurses, educators, etc.) to develop Personal Program Plans (PPP) and program activities to help meet personal development goals
- Assist Manager in maintaining full capacity on EA grant spaces
- Train Developmental Workers
Qualifications:
- Min. ECE 1 Certificate required
- Degree in Kinesiology or diploma/degree in Recreational Therapy
- Physical Therapy Assistant or another related therapy program an asset
- TLR training an asset
- Able to handle physically demanding and challenging tasks
- Physically able to safely work with objects or persons of varying sizes: Exertion of ~100 lbs occasionally; ~50 lbs regularly and 25 lbs continuously
