Summary:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Retail Events Coordinator works with the retail team to increase traffic and sales through the creation and execution of merchandise related events both in-store and market wide.
Responsibilities:
Drive traffic to the retail store by creating and executing events, working with associations that use Cabelas products, and scheduling store events;
Research and develop Cabelas presence at off-site expos, sport shows, shooting and fishing events;
Increase public awareness of Cabelas through press releases and media events and develop relationships with local outdoor personalities;
Promote upcoming events by drafting press releases and reviewing them with Corporate Communications Department, establish contact with local writers, maintain a database of local media, and distribute press releases that have been approved through Corporate;
Work with the General Manager to maximize local donations for local events, establish Cabelas involvement in the community through sponsorships and community outreach, complete sponsorship request forms;
Coordinate educational activities, arrange guided tours of the Cabelas store for school groups and tourism boards.
Qualifications:
One to five years of related promotional and marketing experience
Post-secondary education in marketing combined with knowledge of marketing and promotional practices and procedures
Strong computer and administration skills
Superior communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of and passion for Cabelas products and the outdoors
Membership in an outdoor association is an asset
Able to obtain a Firearms Possession and Acquisition License (PAL)
Valid drivers license and access to a personal vehicle
Flexible availability including the ability to work most weekends and evenings
