Facility: Royal University Hospital
Job Description: The Staff Recreation Therapists' primary role is to improve the health and quality of life for community dwelling older adults through health promotion, needs assessment, program development, evaluation, leadership training, and implementation of healthy active lifestyle and falls prevention initiatives.  Services are delivered through education, facilitation, leadership, and resource development.  This is done in partnership with older adult groups, healthcare providers, and community based organizations/programs/services.
Required Qualifications

Requires fitness instructor and forever in motion trainer certification through Saskatchewan Parks and recreation or would be willing to work towards achieving this.
Requires a Bachelors Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Major Therapeutic Recreation, Bachelors Degree in Sport and Recreation, Major Therapeutic Recreation, Bachelor of Therapeutic Recreation
Registered with or eligible for registration with the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association and Saskatchewan Association of Recreation Professionals
Completed the Canadian Falls Prevention Curriculum training or would be willing to work towards achieving this
Current CPR and Standard First Aid Certification
Valid Saskatchewan drivers license and access to a reliable vehicle
Experience
One year of experience as a Recreation Therapist
Relevant experience in providing health promotion and fall prevention programs for older adults.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the health benefits and best practice for physical activity and fall prevention for older adults
