The Ministry of Corrections and Policing pursues a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan. As corrections professionals, we provide the safe and secure custody of adult and young offenders and deliver programs that promote public safety and reduce reoffending.

The Ministry of Corrections and Policing is accepting applications for Permanent Part Time Correctional Officers across the province (Saskatchewan Correctional Facilities). Correctional Officers are positive, motivated and energetic role models that are non-judgmental and have excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Correctional Officers are responsible and accountable, exhibit leadership, embrace diversity and equality, and treat everyone with dignity and respect.

A Correctional Officer will work closely with adult offenders who may have special needs, gender differences and various cultural and spiritual belief systems; manage a caseload of adult offenders, applying various counseling methodologies including addressing criminogenic factors and their relationship to human behaviour; establish, build and maintain work relationships with effective interpersonal communication (both written and verbal); appropriately apply policy, procedures and legislation; be responsible for security of adult inmates in different correctional settings; maintain a level of fitness to meet the requirements of a physically demanding work environment; accurately input, update, and format information using a variety of computer software and electronic systems; be available for shift work.

Typically, a university degree in the Social Sciences or closely related discipline, a diploma in Correctional Studies, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is required.
