The Ministry of Corrections and Policing pursues a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan. As corrections professionals, we provide the safe and secure custody of adult and young offenders and deliver programs that promote public safety and reduce reoffending.

The Ministry is accepting applications for Permanent Part Time Parental Care Workers across the province (Saskatchewan Correctional Facilities). Parental Care Workers are positive, motivated and energetic role models that are non-judgmental and have excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. Parental Care Workers are responsible and accountable, exhibit leadership, embrace diversity and equality, and treat everyone with dignity and respect.

A Parental Care Worker will work and supervise youth or groups of youth who may have special needs, gender differences and various cultural and spiritual belief systems; establish, build and maintain work relationships utilizing effective interpersonal communications (both written and verbal); work as a team as well as independently; maintain the safety, security, management and control of youth and transport youth; maintain a level of fitness to meet the requirements of a physically demanding work environment, and work proficiently with various computer systems and electronic software.

Knowledge and/or experience working of human growth and adolescent development and the impact of influencing factors; of behaviour management techniques, and with individuals (youth) who may have special needs, gender differences and various cultural and spiritual belief systems.

Expected Requirements are:
1. A valid Saskatchewan Correctional Officers Physical Abilities Test (COPAT);
2. First Aid CPR/AED; and
3. A valid driver's license.
