Description

SSILC is seeking a professional facilitator to deliver a range of Business of Living workshops, courses and one-to-one support.

Purpose:

The Business of Living Facilitator is responsible for classroom instruction in the delivery of a range of stabilization workshops.  The program is designed to provide a foundation of skills to enhance self-confidence and independence of Consumers with the goal of moving them to active participation in the community and labour market.  

Consultative Services Required

Facilitation, training and accommodations:    
Provide facilitation and training service to consumers in a manner that is sensitive to a person with a disability by using supportive language, honest communication, listening without judgment, exercising patience and offering accommodations and flexibility.
Facilitation services are provided through workshop and course delivery, one-to-one facilitation as well as advice on disability accommodations.  The Facilitator will further assess the need for additional training, assessment and identification of community supports.  This consultation work will be done in consideration and understanding of the Business of Living program and SSILCs Independent Living (IL) Philosophy.

Qualifications

- Proven facilitation skills and experience necessary to design, deliver, and evaluate classes
- 5 years experience class facilitation and working at non profit
- TIOW/Reality Therapy/Choice Theory and/ or equivalent is an asset
- Experience working with persons with disabilities is an asset
- Independent initiative and ability to be proactive in a team environment  
- Knowledge of community resources, supports, agencies, and programs
- Ability to build network and solid partnerships
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to use MS office, internet and e-mail
