Description

The Chef is accountable to coordinate, prepare and manage all food services for all patrons of the park through the park restaurant and catering services. In addition, the incumbent is responsible to ensure we meet and exceed client expectations during their visit to Wanuskewin Heritage Park.  

The ideal candidate will have experience and possess an ability to:

- Fosters a culture of client focus and cultural sensitivity throughout the food service department.
- Ensures overall department planning and implementation and development of procedures and policies related to the food service and catering department.
- Provides leadership, training and direction to direct reports.
- Ensures adherence to Wanuskewins and industry standard safety and employee policies, rules and regulations.
- Provides leadership on customer satisfaction and safety practices on food handling to the food services department.
- Participates as a member of the leadership team in the development of Wanuskewins Strategic Plan by providing significant information and direction relative to the organizations food service needs, development and requirements.
- Recruits and retains outstanding staff at all levels within the department, ensuring a positive, diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Ensures routine checks and maintenance on food service equipment, assets and inventory are conducted.
- Ensures resources are allocated in accordance with operational and budgetary plans.
- Ensures validity and fair market price in department purchases, repairs and decisions related to food services and asset maintenance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Journeyperson Chef required with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a management leadership role, or equivalent education and training, including staff supervision experience. Preference will be given to a candidate with experience working in a cross cultural setting.
