Description

AIDS Saskatoon's Family Support Program provides community and in home support to families who are at high risk of apprehension and involvement with the Ministry of Social Services. Full-time Family Support Workers work a rotating schedule of one week Monday to Friday 9am-5pm and one week Monday to Friday 4pm-12am. All full-time staff work one weekend every six weeks.

RESPOSNIBILITIES:
- Work within a family home providing direct support in potential high risk situations
- Respond quickly to eergent needs as identified by families, community partners and the Ministry of Social Services
- Assist parent to access services and navigate potentially threatening situations
-Think creatively to create sustainable and attainable safety plans
-Mentor parents and other caregivers on healthy parenting and coping skills
Assist families to identify potential support networks and assist with connecting them to other professional supports
-Maintain documentation and ensure appointments are followed through with

PREFERRED SKILLS & EDUCATION:
Must agree to Criminal Record and Vulnerable Persons Check and possess a valid Drivers License
Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indian Social Work, post secondary education in related human services field or combined work and life experience relevant to position
Comfort working with at risk families in the inner core
Ability to build trusting relationships with families
Knowledge of challenges in the inner city communities
Knowledge of addiction and its impact on parenting
Knowledge of community services and agencies in Saskatoon
Ability to participate as member of a team on a inter-agency team
Good oral and written communication skills
