The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is the national synchrotron research facility on the University of Saskatchewan campus in Saskatoon. This facility produces high-intensity synchrotron light, millions of times brighter than sunlight, to explore the nature and structure of molecules and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.
To support facility operations, the CLSI is now accepting applications to fill a position for an RF Research Technologist as a member of the Accelerator Operations and Development department in our Machine Division.
Duties:
- The successful candidate will be responsible to maintain, repair and operate CLS Facility equipment, particularly RF systems, to maintain the highest possible reliability and quality of CLS Facility operation.
- Other duties as assigned will cover a subset of the technical systems within the facility, including cryogenics equipment, accelerator systems, DC magnet power supplies, RF systems, scientific data acquisition, as well as the operation of the CLS accelerators.
- Depending upon experience and expertise, the candidate may also be involved with electronics design/development, and preparation of preventative maintenance and operations procedures.
- On-call duties and shift work will be required
Qualifications:
- Relevant post-secondary diploma/certificate in electronics, electrical or computer technology
- Minimum of 6 years experience in RF (radar or broadcast) equipment
- An Electrical or Instrumentation Journeyperson ticket is an asset
- Familiarity with the use of UNIX/Linux and MS-Windows computers is an asset
