The Client Worker/Counsellor works as a member of a Client Worker/Counselling team. They are responsible for providing support, information, referrals, crisis and short term counselling as well as group support programming to individuals of all genders who have been impacted by sexual violence and their support persons. We offer support for both recent and past/historical sexual violence. Client Worker/Counsellors provide victim assistance as requested including accompaniment to police stations and preparation for and accompaniment to court. Client Worker/Counsellors also provide training for both other non-profit staff as well as the general public.Education/Experience: A Bachelor Degree in Psychology (Educ. Psychology), Social Work, or other counselling degree, with a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in the field of sexual violence and/or domestic violence or an equivalent combination of the two. Candidate/Applicant must have solid counselling experience in trauma related work.
Theory and practice in counselling adults (females and males), teens, families who have experienced violence
Understanding of the psychological, emotional, physical, behavioral and economic impacts of sexual violence
Crisis management and response experience
Group facilitation techniques and experience
Competence working with diverse populations and individuals experiencing multiple challenges
Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs
