The Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Services Branch has two exciting and challenging opportunities to be a leader in the delivery of agricultural environmental initiatives, programming and extension services. As part of a team, the Agri-Environmental Specialist will support sustainability through the adoption of best practices and the promotion of programming under the Canadian Agriculture Partnership.
The successful candidates will have knowledge of current agriculture trends and issues in Saskatchewan and Canada. They will be leaders in the delivery of client services focused on program awareness, building public trust, research and technology transfer.
These positions are based in Swift Current and Watrous/Humboldt area, and as members of the Agri-Environmental Specialist Team, will work closely with third-party contractors, Ministry and Government partners in the delivery of regional services.
They will develop and deliver extension events, and provide producers and industry with expert knowledge on environmental best practices and availability of programming. They will have an understanding of native and tame range and riparian management fundamentals. They will work with applied research and demonstration projects that support the environmental sustainability of the industry through the adoption of programming.
Typically, the expertise required for these positions would be obtained through a degree in Agriculture, combined with relevant program delivery and leadership experience.
