Job Summary: The Payroll Clerk will be reporting to the Finance Manager within the finance department and will be responsible for all payroll functions. The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for the full cycle of payroll including calculating payroll, making mandatory deductions, issuing T4s and Records of Employment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for all aspects the Payroll function;
Review timesheets and notify managers of any errors or discrepancies;
Calculate payroll;
Email pay advices to employees;
Upload payroll file to CAFT, print manual cheques if required;
Print and prepare CRA payments biweekly;
Ensure appropriate deductions and reconciliations are made for Aski loans, rent or advances;
Reconcile and prepare payments for London Life and First Nation Insurance;
Receive and ensure Garnishee requests are handled in a timely manner;
Other duties, as assigned.
Qualification:
A diploma from a recognized educational institution in accounting, finance or a combination of administrative and financial management experience
Must have 1- 2 years of experience in a financial role (payroll) within a First Nation
Well organized, detail oriented, enthusiastic and confident
Highly analytic with proven problem-solving skills
Ability to allocate ones time effectively, multi-task, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Proficient use of SAGE, MS Office Suite and Excel Spreadsheets
Self-starter with a highly energetic, results oriented work style combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must provide a current CRC and VSC upon request
