Facility: KELSEY TRAIL HEALTH REGION ADMIN
Job Description: The Safety Officer will provide leadership and direction in Workplace Health & Safety by assisting managers, staff, OHCs and departments in developing Health & Safety processes, structures and activities that meet or exceed legislative requirements while building a culture of safety in Saskatchewan Health Authority.  The goal of these activities is to eliminate workplace injuries by controlling risk, preserving resources, promoting safe environments for patients and staff and integrating the Mission Zero Philosophy. The Safety Officer will evaluate cumulative statistical data for continuous quality improvements and assist managers in developing departmental safety goals as required.  The Safety Officer will assist Managers and Directors in a consultative role related to the documenting, reporting and responding to contraventions, officer reports and dangerous occurrences.
Required Qualifications

Practitioner Certificate or degree in Occupational Health and Safety
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with many individuals and groups including staff, students, unions and the general public
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Exceptional public speaking and presentation skills
Good knowledge of health & safety programs and legislation.  Incumbent will be required to keep current in developments in this area
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Superior interpersonal, communication and writing skills
Ability to influence leaders and employees at multiple levels of the organization to build awareness, understanding, desire and acceptance regarding specific change initiatives
