Virtex Farm Foods is a Canola Processing Facility located about 10 km North of Saskatoon just off Highway 11. We currently have openings for a Plant Operator/Power Engineer. Operating from the plant floor, the Plant Operator/Power Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of both the process plant and the boiler systems.
Key Responsibilities
Operates boiler and boiler auxiliaries according to TSASK Regulation;
Operation of the process from both the HMI and the field;
Operates equipment such as presses, valves, pumps, compressors, conveyers, centrifuges etc;
Performs plant process checks at required intervals;
Collects and performs lab testing of in-process samples taken;
Unloads and loads product (Seed, Meal, Oil, etc.);
Maintains a clean and tidy work area, as well as maintaining a high level of cleanliness in the processing plant as per company and legislated food safety policies;
Performs minor maintenance and repair tasks on equipment;
Assist maintenance with equipment repairs
Follows plant safety policies including the participation in lock out procedures, hot work permits, confined space entry and others as required;
Maintain a high standard of safety in all aspects of job;
Participates in company training programs;
Performs other tasks as assigned;
Required Skills, Training & Experience
4th Class TSASK Power Engineering Certificate and Operating License
Rotating Shift of Days and Nights including weekends when required;
Comfortable working with computers and Microsoft programs (Word, Excel);
Experience with grain processing, plant or forage handling, or other food processing is an asset;
Ability to read, understand, and interpret basic Operating Procedures related to food processing (GMP and HACCP regulations);
Previous training with forklifts and other mobile equipment is an asset;
Strong mechanical aptitude;
