Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Coordinator of Legal Services is a member of the senior management team and will help provide legal education to the public on issues that pertain to John Howard's mandate, along with advocacy on behalf of those incarcerated at the provincial jails and federal prisons within the Province.
Program/Project Description
Provide legal education to the public on issues that pertain to John Howards mandate, along with advocacy on behalf of men who are incarcerated at the provincial jails and federal prisons within the Province.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Developing a series of concise and easily accessible policy papers that pertain to criminal justice issues in Saskatchewan. These policy papers will be publically accessible through our website and promoted through social media.
Help answer questions received from JHSSs toll free institutional support number. Many of these calls come from people or families of people who are currently incarcerated and are looking for information or advocacy about prison and jail issues.
Provide services to those involved in Saskatchewans Criminal Justice system by connecting directly through the host of other justice-related programs JHSS offers.
Work with senior management to help develop legal policy and direction, as it relates to fulfilling the organizations mandate.
