Description

The Planner, under the direction of the Director of Lands Infrastructure, will be responsible for project management of various planning, mapping, and building/development approvals on Zagime Anishinabek lands. This position will assist in planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing various operational and administrative programs. This role will also assist in the preparation of new first nation land-use plans and the revision of existing land-use plans.
Respond to complaints and requests for services submitted by Chief and Council and taxpayers
Assist in planning, zoning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing various operational and administrative programs
Assist in the preparation of new first nation land use plans and concept plans for the nation and its corporations
Assist in acquisition of lands within or out of province
Research topics which are concerns to the first nation and create action recommendations
Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including executive, corporate staff, management, employees, and business and community partners
Anticipate first nation needs and create programs to address them
Advise the chief and council, senior leadership, citizen groups.
Act as technical consultant
Perform responsibilities of the position within the legislative and regulatory standards set out in the applicable federal, provincial, municipal, and first nation legislation
Concisely explain strategic initiatives and relevant technical details of complex issues to chief and council and other stakeholders
Represent the department  in meetings with chief and council, members of various boards and commissions, various government agencies, and various private and public organizations
Assist in the coordination of community development and process building/development permits
Create maps using ArcGIS
Document daily activities and submit detailed reports
