Description

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Environmental/Laundry & Food Services at the All Nations Healing Hospital, this position works as part of an interdisciplinary team. You will provide cafeteria, catering and dining room services and will provide assistance with the (non-cooking) preparation and distribution of food and beverages.  You will also clean and sanitize equipment and work areas. The successful candidate will work within the Food Services department, but may be cross-trained to work with the Laundry and Environmental Services department.

We are looking for an applicant that is interested in joining a high functioning team and will provide casual relief assignment.  The successful candidate would be available for weekend and/or weekday work and may be called at any time during the work day to cover relief shifts.  

Applicants must possess:
Prior experience working in a Food services department in the healthcare field and hospital setting.
Knowledge and experience in infection control, isolation techniques and universal precautions
WHMIS and Food Safety Training would be an asset
Experience in Food Services would be an asset

 

Skills and Abilities

Dishwashing Skills
 - Scour pots and pans
 - Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand
 - Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts and waste disposal units
 - Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware and flatware
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
 - WHMIS
 - Food Safe Certificate
Counter Attendant and Food Preparer Skills
 - Use manual and electrical appliances to clean, peel, slice and trim foodstuffs
 - Stock refrigerators and salad bars
 - Serve customers at counters or buffet tables
 - Portion and wrap foods
 - Keep records of the quantities of food used
 - Prepare, heat and finish simple food items
Kitchen Helping Skills
 - Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruit
 - Sharpen kitchen knives
 - Remove kitchen garbage and trash
 - Receive, unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards and other storage areas
 - Handle and store cleaning products
 - Clean and sanitize kitchen including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances and equipment
 - Sweep and mop floors
Bussing Skills
 - Set tables
 - Replenish condiments and other supplies at tables and serving areas
 - Load buspans and trays
 - Clear and clean tables, trays and chairs
 - Assist food and beverage servers in formal service activities
