Description

The CLS is now recruiting a highly-motivated scientist at the Associate Scientist level to work at the CLS. The successful candidate will be tasked with using synchrotron techniques to find scientific solutions to the challenges in the field of materials science.

Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Materials and Chemical Sciences manager, the Associate Scientist is expected to work with staff at multiple beamlines, to develop research capabilities at the beamlines, and support researchers from academic, government, or private institutions.
- He/she will also contribute or lead facility enhancement projects and engage in user community development.

Requirements:
- All applicants are expected to have completed at a minimum a M.Sc. degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or related disciplines. A Ph.D. degree in an above discipline will be a considerable asset
- A minimum two (2) years of directly related experience in a synchrotron or scientific laboratory with a Masters degree, or a minimum of one-year related experience with a recently completed relevant Ph.D.
- Highly motivated individuals interested in materials research and in developing solutions using synchrotron techniques is desirable.
- Strong backgrounds in diffraction or spectroscopy will be viewed as an asset for the position.
- Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is a requirement of the position.
