The CLS is now recruiting a highly-motivated scientist at the Associate Scientist level to work to use synchrotron techniques to find scientific solutions to agriculture challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Environmental and Earth Sciences manager at the CLS, the Associate Scientist will be responsible for the execution and completion of projects. Specific duties will include project planning, execution, and completion of project-based work.
- The Scientist will be responsible for working with CLS Clients on specific projects, and may have to use different CLS beamlines to deliver solutions.
- Provides user Associate to general users, beamteam members, fee-for-service clients, and CLS staff. Assists with the following functions:
- Beamline and endstation setup
- Assists with sample preparation and trains users on how to operate beamline
- User Associate beyond normal working hours in accordance with established CLS
procedures
- Supervise and Associate users to ensure that they are able to perform their
scientific experiments in an effective manner
Requirements:
- All applicants are expected to have completed at minimum a M.Sc. degree.A Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline will be a considerable asset.
- A minimum (2) years of years directly related experience in a synchrotron or scientific laboratory with a Masters degree, or a minimum of one-year related experience with a recently completed relevant Ph.D.
- Requires the ability to work under pressure and to deal with competing deadlines.
- Working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is a requirement of the position.
