Reporting to the Integrated Wellness Coordinator, the Wellness Educator will primarily be responsible to work with community to strengthen health and social supports by creating collaborative approaches and links to address barriers and risk factors that contribute to youth suicide, mental illness and addiction. It will use a trauma informed, strength- based approach to support youth resiliency. This role will enhance knowledge and skills across the lifespan to strengthen key protective factors such as a strong sense of culture, hope, identity, connection to others, resilience and mental wellness.
- Respect and protect the rights of First Nation citizens, including but not limited to their right to independence, autonomy, and self-determination; their right to choose and practice individual values, beliefs, religion, and culture; their right to privacy and dignity;
- Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate care and support of STC members and STC member First Nations.
- Degree in health or social sciences, or a field appropriate to the position.
- Must provide a current, original, Canadian Criminal Record Check (CPIC) and vulnerable sector check as a condition of employment.
- Willingness to travel to community;
- Hours of work may vary. Weekend and/or evening work may be required.
