The Town of Kamsack invites applications for a full time Bylaw Enforcement Officer.
The Bylaw Enforcement Officer is responsible for administering and enforcing bylaws both proactively and reactively. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and self-disciplined. They must have excellent inter-personal skills with sound judgement and decision making skills. The position is based on a flexible schedule of 160 hours over a 4 week period. DUTIES:
Bylaw Enforcement - Ensure compliance with specified Town by-laws either on foot patrol or on mobile patrol.
a. Building and Zoning Bylaw
b. Licensing Bylaw
c. Traffic Bylaws
d. Nuisance Abatement Bylaw
Animal Control - Locate and impound dogs and cats running at large
Other Duties as deemed necessary by the Administrator
Qualifications:
Experience related to the duties listed above, normally acquired through the completion of post secondary diploma program in Law and Security or Police Foundations and 1 2 years experience in law enforcement or security work. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
Must have a valid Class 5 drivers license and a good driving record
Municipal by-law enforcement experience would be a definite asset
Knowledge of municipal by-laws would be an asset
Possess excellent communication skills and present a pleasant demeanor with the public
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job which includes walking, sitting and standing for extended periods of time
Must have good record keepings skills and computer skills; familiarity with MicroSoft Office applications would be considered an asset.
