The Saskatchewan Research Councils Environment Division has an immediate opening for a Lab Assistant to join the Radiochemistry area in the Environmental Analytical Laboratories. This is a five-month term position with possibility of extension.
Accountabilities
Prepare samples for analysis and perform a variety of laboratory tests using standardized lab procedures
Conduct routine and non-routine testing using general laboratory and analytical equipment
Operate and perform routine maintenance of instrumentation while adhering to protocols and safety guidelines
Logging samples into the lab information management system (LIMS)
Wash, clean, and store various forms of labware according to cleaning procedures
Qualifications
A chemical technology diploma or equivalent
Familiarity with basic laboratory instrumentation, standard operating procedures and safe work practices
Skills
A team player with effective interpersonal, communication, multitasking and problem-solving skills
Ability to understand and carry out written procedures
Positive attitude and willingness to help where needed
Necessary training will be provided
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
