Job Summary
The Developmental Worker (DW) assists in the delivery of programming to facilitate the growth and development of children with complex medical needs in our Early Learning & Child Care Centre. Shifts are Monday to Friday from 3pm to 6pm.
Responsibilities
-Ability to handle physically demanding and challenging tasks
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills
-Basic technology use
-Sense of professionalism, leadership, awareness and appreciation of diversity
-Concern for health, safety and the environmental surroundings
-Work as a team player and accountability in independent decision making
-Ability to work effectively with different behavioral physical disorders
-Physical ability to maneuver equipment required by children (lifts, wheelchairs, standing frames. etc)
-Physical ability to perform and safely work with objects or persons of varying sized
Qualifications/Skills
Completion of one of:
1. EA Program
2. Disability Support Worker Program
3. Recreational Therapist Program
4. KIN Degree- Adaptive Physical Activity
5. ECE Certificate Or possess relevant and applicable education with special needs (min. 1 yr experience)
Experience with diverse needs and/or working with children an asset
