General Description:
Working alongside the Manager of Outreach Programs, the Outreach Science Educator GoCode will work as both a lead and supporting member of all GoCode programs the Saskatchewan Science Centre will offer. This role will involve program delivery, development, as well as reporting and administrative duties.
Specific Responsibilities
Delivery of GoCode Outreach programming including:
- Technology Based Education Programs
- School Workshops
- Family Tech Nights
- Demonstrations
Customer service and promotion
Program development and improvement
Staff supervision and training
Coordination and organization of travel
Other duties
Skills/Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in science, computer science, education, interpretation or related field
Experience delivering STEM programming
Experience teaching or instructing a variety of age levels
Willingness to travel year round
Experience in program delivery/development
Experience teaching preferably in STEM fields or informal education
Valid Class 5 drivers license
Criminal Record Check w/ Vulnerable Sector Check
Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Training
Ideal skills and accomplishments:
Experience working with robotics-based educational technologies (Ozobots, Arduinos, mBots, micro:Bits)
Extensive experience with programming
Curiosity and interest in science
Supervision and leadership experience
Flexibility and openness to a constantly changing environment
Working Conditions
This is a temporary full-time position and falls under the salary grid 2.5.
This position is required to travel year-round. Weekday availability will be required, with some evening and weekend availability being required.
The Saskatchewan Science Centre will provide meal per diems, a vehicle, and will also cover accommodations.
