Reporting to Foreman, the Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment such as but not limited to packers, loaders, and dozers. Operators maintain their equipment to ensure health and safety of themselves and others.If youre an individual who thrives in a culture based on health and safety, respect, and executing high quality work, W.F. Job Duties:
- Operate hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components
- Operate gasoline and diesel powered units
- Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations and compliance
- Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations
- Diagnose / identify defects in heavy duty equipment
- Perform minor maintenance work to ensure full working condition of equipment
- Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation and occupational health and safety
- Maneuver trucks/heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew
- Check vehicles before driving them to ensure equipment is in good working order
- Assist in loading and unloading of trucks
- Perform periodic inspections
- Provide feedback to supervision regarding any problems
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum 2-3 years experience on a construction site operating heavy equipment; Experience operating a water truck an asset
- Valid drivers license with the ability to get to and from site
- PME certification for equipment
- High attention to detail
- Strong values rooted in health and safety
- Ability to work in a high paced environment with high physical demand
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Scheduling flexibility as overtime may be required
- Steel-toe safety boots required
