Job Summary
The role of Nursing Supervisor is to supervise and delegate work assignments to staff on the floor. This role supervises daily staffing ratios of Nurses, Rec Programmers, and Developmental Workers within the program. They also care for the medical needs of all children in the program. A Nursing Supervisor works in a team environment along with the families to provide exceptional care that meets the evolving needs of each medically fragile child.
Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
Current licensing as required for RN, RPN or LPN
Minimum 4 years Pediatric experience preferred
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with different behavioral/physical disorders
Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and compassionately with medically fragile children
Demonstration of strong interpersonal and professional skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent organizational skills
Sense of professionalism, leadership; awareness and appreciation of diversity
Expresses a concern for health, safety, and the environmental surroundings
Ability to work as a team player and accountability in independent decision making, HR, scheduling, finances and any day to day managing tasks
Strong work ethic with a focus on honesty, commitment, and a desire to work with children and their families
Demonstration of basic technology use
Proficient use of computers an asset
Must have valid driver's license
Possess the ability to handle physically demanding and challenging tasks
Transportation/Travel Information
- Own vehicle
- Valid driver's licence
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the province/territory of work
- CPR certification
Specific Skills
- Supervise licensed practical nurses and other nursing staff
- Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions
- Collaborate to plan, implement, co-ordinate and evaluate patient care
- Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician
- Monitor, assess, address, document and report symptoms and changes in patients' conditions
- Provide nursing care
- Participate in community needs assessment and program development
