Description

Support Worker
The Saskatoon Downtown Youth Centre Inc.  EGADZ requires a Full Time Support Worker for First Avenue Campus.
EGADZ is an inter-agency, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide services for hard to serve youth in Saskatoon with the mission to encourage and support them to make choices that improve their quality of life.

First Avenue Campus, located at the EGADZ Youth Centre, provides full day education program  Monday through Friday with alternate schedule on Thursday. The program is staffed with a full time Special Education teacher and a full time Support Worker. First Avenue Campus provides a continuum of services to meet the complex and intense needs of many of our youth with Justice involvement.

The Support Worker is responsible for:
Transporting of youth to school.
Assisting youth who are experiencing an array of difficulties that are barriers to acquiring or maintaining an Educational placement.
Issues such as truancy, substance abuse, gang involvement, criminalized behaviors as well as mental & physical health concerns.
Support a placement to stabilize as a means to re-integrate into an appropriate educational placement.
To provide the most inclusive collaborative support that assists the youth, their family and all partnering agencies in order for future educational placements to be successful.
To establish a rapport with youth whereby being a positive role model.
To support and assist in classroom with behavior and work assignments as directed by the teacher.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in the human services field, equivalent experience or a combination of both
Demonstrate and practice a healthy lifestyle
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with youth, staff and partnering agencies and maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
Driver's Abstract is Required
Criminal Records Check (Within 6 Months)
