Description

Facility: Fond du Lac Nursing Clinic
Job Description: Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Primary Health Care, the Primary Care Nurse [PCN] / Nurse Practitioner (NP) is authorized by the Athabasca Health Authority to function in the expanded role of nursing. The PCN / NP provides nursing services to clients in communities without hospitals or resident physicians but where physicians work within agreements with the employer to provide medical services on a regular, visiting basis. The PCN / NP provides a broad range of health care services for the client and the community. The PCN / NP is responsible for the overall leadership of nursing services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Demonstrated ability to function competently as a Primary Health Care Nurse / Nurse Practitioner.

Cultural awareness and sensitivity to the Dene culture.

Interpersonal, organizational and communication skills consistent with establishing and maintaining the working relationships required to effectively perform the role requirements.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Possess sound judgment, as well as critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, orally and in writing, with the general public, AHA staff and community members.

Ability to prioritize role tasks; react positively to heavy workloads, conflicting demands, and tight time constraints.

Assume responsibility and is accountable at all times for personal practice.

Demonstrated ability to use standard office software.

Willingly participates in quality improvement and client safety initiatives.





Diploma or Bachelors degree in nursing from a recognized school of nursing
