The Executive Director provides leadership and program management services to the association. This includes:
Regularly review and support implementation of the guiding vision and plans for air monitoring, communication and financial sustainability;
Build positive relationships with current members and identify and recruit new ones;
Monitor existing contracts with external consultants to ensure air quality monitoring and reporting is completed pursuant to the agreements. Where necessary, negotiate and renew contracts for air monitoring and other services;
Maintain financial accounts and arrangements, and carry out fiscal and organizational reporting to governing agencies (ISC, CRA) as required, and support the annual review of the funding formula(s) to support the operations of the association;
Organize and support the functions of the board of directors, and committees; including organizing regular and annual meetings, preparing and/or circulating documents and minutes, and coordinating the completion of action items that arise;
Plan and implement the associations positive communication and engagement program to share the work of the organization and to educate the public about the importance of clean air, and about sources of pollution that have a negative effect on air-quality in the air zone. This includes support and maintenance of the website and social media platforms, sending regular email messages to members, and coordinating the preparation and distribution of the annual air monitoring report.
The ideal candidate will:
Be an independent worker with reliable interpersonal and public relations skills.
Possess experience supporting volunteer boards of directors and have proven organizational management ability.
Have education and/or experience in science and program management, preferably related to air-quality monitoring.
