Duties and responsibilities:
The Social Leisure Youth Program (SLYP-Out) provides recreational outings to youth with physical disabilities.  The SLYP-Out coordinator prepares and schedules activities for the program.  The coordinator is responsible for participant selection, arranging activities, recordkeeping and evaluation, volunteer recruitment and training, and providing participant transportation.  

Duties include:
- Coordinating and conducting recreational events (evening outings) in the community for the participants
- Providing an engaging, interactive, safe and fun atmosphere for participants with physical disabilities
- Recruiting and training volunteers and coordinating volunteers for each outing
- Conducting participants selection that may include in-home visits with participants and their families
- Preparing and distributing the monthly activity schedule
- Providing participant transportation to and from each scheduled activity
- Keeping accurate records of participant and volunteer attendance for each activity and completing activity evaluations after each activity

Qualifications:
Education:
- Student who is involved in post-secondary education in the human services field (i.e., Education, Kinesiology, Recreational Therapy, or related disciplines)
Experience:
- Experience working with children or youth who have a physical disability would be an asset
Skills:
- Valid First Aid and CPR certificates
- Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft office
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
- Innovative and creative
- Valid drivers licence
Final Candidates are required to provide satisfactory criminal record checks including a vulnerable sector search.
