Description

The Swift Current Branch Library is looking for energetic Library Pages to shelve library material and maintain the library collection. Library Pages perform a variety of tasks under the direction of the Branch Manager or designated staff member on duty. This is a year-round position, for 9 hours per week. Extra hours may be available.  

General Duties:
Shelves books and other library material accurately and efficiently
Sorts library material by type and according to classification (e.g. fiction alphabetically by authors last name, nonfiction by Dewey numbers, etc.)
Shelf reads for accuracy as assigned
Cleans and tidies shelves as needed
May be assigned to assist in program preparation (e.g. helping to prepare craft materials for programs)
May assist with moving library furnishings etc.
May empty book drop and sort materials depending on hours worked
Directs patron questions to appropriate staff

Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 9; adults are welcome to apply
Must be able to lift at least 18 kg and bend, kneel, etc. as needed for shelving materials over a period of at least an hour
Able to perform assigned tasks quickly and accurately, follow directions, and work independently  
Knowledge of library collections,  terminology and classification is an asset

Required to obtain Safe Places Certification which includes an online training program, and RCMP Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check.
