The Child and Family Services Unit, Ministry of Social Services, requires an Emergency Duty Worker. You will be responsible to provide after-hours emergency services to families.
In this position you will investigate child abuse/neglect referrals; assess risk for child safety; be on a regular rotation for after-hours emergency services; and determine involvement and safety plans for families in crisis. Furthermore, you will be required to transport families and provide emergency aid to individuals in financial need.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of child abuse, and neglect indicators and affects; poverty and other socio-economic issues and how they impact on people; human growth and development and the impact of influencing factors; systemic barriers that affect clients and communities; multicultural beliefs, values and perspectives with particular emphasis on First Nations and Mtis; and a range of human behavioural theories and intervention strategies.
The competencies and qualifications for this position, may have been derived from educational training and/or life experience.
You will be required to travel, work flexible hours and lift and carry small children.
