Description

The David Aplin Group is working on behalf of their client in assisting them in recruiting for a Financial Accountant.  This role requires an experienced professional with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  This position will perform month-end close activities and provide financial information and analysis within a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.  This position reports to the Manager of Financial Accounting.

The Role:
Responsible for monthly accounting close processes, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations
Assisting in the consolidation of the Canadian entities
Cooperatively work with the accounting team and other teams within the organization, including Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and other Business Managers
Utilize problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills to understand the business and accounting process at the company
Assist external and internal auditors in the performance of year-end and interim financial audits/reviews
Assist with completion of quarterly and year-end financial disclosures
Assist with ad hoc reports and projects, as requested

Requirements:
Degree or Diploma in Accounting
3 years of experience in a relevant accounting position, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Must be an advanced user of Excel
Experience with the Oracle financial system a plus
Exceptional attention to detail, ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently, be a self-starter
Excellent organization and time management skills
Strong critical thinking/problem-solving skills
Cooperative and effective team member, Ability to interact with all levels of employees
Highly adaptable with a willingness to learn and actively participate
