Description

The AGH Youth Care Worker, under the direction of the AGH Program Manager, is responsible for the day-to-day residential operation of the Adolescent Group Home.  A Youth Care Worker supervises mentors and cares for the needs of each resident in the home.
The positions are short notice call in to fill shifts for day, evening and/or night rotations.  Rate of pay will be as per the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the union.
Duties Include:
Collaborate with members of an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate youth care and support in consultation with the youth and their families.
Provide direct and comprehensive care and assistance to youth with specialized and complex needs as required.
Care and Supervision of Residents.
- Ensure that the nutritional requirements of all residents are met.
- Ensure that the health requirements of all residents are met and maintained.
Recording and Reporting:
- Document all relevant information pertaining to the residents and maintain necessary files.
- Create Incident Reports and submitting them to the AGH Program Manager.
Social and Recreation Planning:
- Teach appropriate social skills to residents.
- Plan and provide a variety of recreational opportunities and activities for the residents.  This will include activities at the Group Home or within the community.
- Plan and implement youth meetings.
Complete the days reports and file as needed and where needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Social Work Degree preferred but equivalent in education, training and experience will be considered.  Experience working with youth in a residential setting. Experience in the development and implementation of programming related to the various needs of youth.  Ability to work effectively as a team member.  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
